Organize medical bills and EOBs on your iPhone — no account, no cloud
Anyone handling a parent's care knows the pile. An EOB a day. Bills that don't match the EOB. Prescriptions, referrals, the power of attorney someone asks for on every call. You need to find one page in ten seconds while you're on hold — and you'd rather it didn't live on a server somewhere.
Why the usual answers don't quite work
- Photos in the camera roll — you can't search them for "claim number" or a provider's name.
- Scanning into Drive or Dropbox — searchable, but the file is now on someone else's server under an account.
- Notes' scanner — quick, but the PDF it exports had no text layer in our test, so it's a picture of a bill, not a searchable bill.
What "on-device" means here
ZipScan reads the text with Apple's Vision framework on the phone itself. There's no account to create and no server to send anything to; the App Store privacy label says "Data Not Collected", and it works in airplane mode. Your documents sit inside the app on the phone, protected by the same passcode and Face ID as everything else on it.
A system that takes ten seconds per document
- When a bill or EOB arrives, open ZipScan — the camera is already on — and hold it over the page. Multi-page bills stack into one PDF; tap ✓ when done.
- Already have photos of it? Photos → Share → ZipScan turns them into the same kind of file.
- Let it name itself from the letterhead, or rename it ("Cardiology – EOB – Mar 2026").
- Later, in Library, search the provider, the date, the word "EOB", or a claim number. The text inside every page is searchable, not just the title.
Sharing with a sibling, the insurer, or the doctor's office
Share → Mail, Messages, Files, or a portal upload. Pages are a few hundred KB each, so a six-page bill goes through email without a fight. If a portal insists on images, Share as JPEG is one tap away. The text travels with the PDF, so whoever receives it can search it too.

What happens if I get a new phone? Restore it from your iPhone backup the way you restore everything else; the scans come with the app.
