Combine photos into one PDF on iPhone — and keep it under 5 MB
The pages are already photographed: four pages of a bank statement, a signed form, the passport page. The portal wants one PDF, not four JPEGs, and it caps the upload at 4 or 5 MB — some at 1 MB. Here are the three ways to do it on an iPhone and what each one does to the file size.
Why the obvious way makes a 15 MB file
The trick everyone posts: Photos → Select → Share → Print → pinch out on the preview → Share → Save to Files. It works and it's free. It also embeds every photo at full resolution, and a phone photo is several megabytes on its own. Four pages routinely pass 10 MB, the portal rejects it, and the next step is uploading your bank statement to a "free online PDF compressor" you've never heard of. That's the part worth avoiding.

Step by step with ZipScan
- Open Photos, tap Select, and tap the pages in the order you want them — page 1 first.

How big will the file be?
In our measurements a page comes out between roughly 120 KB and 320 KB, depending on how much is on it. A four-page statement lands around 1 MB; a ten-page packet around 2–3 MB. That is the difference between "upload succeeded" and an afternoon with a compressor.

Can I fix the page order afterwards? Yes — open the document, tap ⋯ → Edit Pages, drag to reorder, remove, or add a page.
Is the text really searchable, or just an image? Real text. Open the PDF in Files, Preview, or Acrobat and search or select it like any typed document.
Does it work for a passport or ID page? It's a page — yes. Shoot it flat, in even light, without glare.
